Yesterday the Pacific Locomotive Association moved ex-Western Pacific 0-6-0 switcher #165 from the Alameda County Fairgrounds to their Niles Canyon Railway. The WP165 is one of only five WP steam locomotives left in existance.

The fairgrounds management was anxious to get the locomotive off the property before the upcoming county fair and was pleased about how quickly the PLA moved to get the job done. The fairgrounds management first talked to the PLA about 3 months ago of their desire to donate the loco to us and gave us the paperwork donating the loco two weeks ago. This closes out an over 20 yr effort to get this loco - the PLA first tried to acquire it while it was on display in San Leandro.

The PLA Mechanical Department will review the condition and give it a priority for restoration.
