Can anyone provide us with recent JPEGS of the ex-Rock Island 0-4-0T that has long sat at Jamestown, California? Plus any updates on its status?
The reason nobody finds the 0-4-0T, is because its parked down on what is left of the Angels Branch. If you look across the street from the old fieght depot on the Angels Branch you'll see some old hopper cars. Just go down one street(I think, maybe two streets) and you'll see it in the bushes under an old tree at the next crossing there. Good luck finding it, but be careful and don't get hurt. It's really depressing to see that engine so I don't recomend visiting it unless you bring flowers.
Johnathon Kruger
Steam Department
Niles Canyon Railway
From what I can recall in talking with Walter around 1985, the engine was a shop switcher, built out of parts from a retired (I think Norris?) 4-4-0 built in the late 1860's-early 1870's. Sorry to be so vague!
