A whole bunch of new photos added to the www.steamlocomotive.info site, showing extant locomotives as they appear today. Good stuff!

This is shaping up to be a great site; but there are still about 500 US engines without photos and lots of engines lack technical data and ownership details. This information can only be added by those in the know about engines in their area. I wonder where they could find a group of people with extensive knowledge and photos of American steam engines? ;) Gentlemen, start your browsers.

Thank you for your kind words. I'm planning to spend this weekend going through all the notes that have been posted to the various locomotives' records and making sure that the database matches the information provided in the Notes (and via e-mail, carrier pidgeon, strange hostile phone calls and other methods).

We've just finished adding New Zealand locomotives to the system and will be adding Australia, Spain and Portugal over the next couple of weeks.

I want to emphasize that we WILL correct mistakes in our database as soon as possible. This is sometimes time consuming as running the business which kindly supports the steamlocomotive.info website kinda has to take priority.

If you are looking for details of North American stean engines you must get a copy of J.David Conrad's Steam Locomotives. Now out of print, you need to beg borrow or ??? a copy from someone. It is all in there!

And of course the words of wisdom at this august site are a great source of data. Don't forget to burrow into the archives. RYPN has been running for several years now.
