Saw this on the Narrow Gauge Discussion Forum. History of the old South Park engine now at the Colorado RR Museum, plus a nice old photo (click the link) of kids playing on the engine when it was on display long ago in Wiscinsin. One of the kids, now grown, posted the photo. Obviously, the experience made enough of an impression that he still likes locomotives.

Oops! Similar experience, wrong link. Try the one below. The link with my post above is of another Colorado narrow gauge engine, C&S No. 60, which was the first steam locomotive I ever climbed on as a child, at Idaho Springs, Colorado.
