This caboose story, from Flimsies, was meant to be positive, but illustrates what can happen when you let an unknowing reporter write about your project. Bet you didn't know that the caboose was once king of the train, or that the caboose driver decided what cars would be dropped off at local industries. I'll bet you've never steam-polished the wheels and steam valves of a caboose either. The lesson here: Write your own press releases....

On a more positive Caboose note, The Northwestern Pacific Railroad historical society has been working on a wood caboose, NWP #13. Lots of new glass, wood, paint etc.

They are now gathering parts for repairs to the trucks. They came by the Western Railway Museum recently to pick up a map case for their archives and some springs for the Caboose.

It will soon be displayed in the new car barn at the Roots of Motive Power in willits, California.
