To be totaly correct, this is not the last carbarn in Portland. It is the last trolley shop I'm very sure (they built some of thier own). What makes this more than just "save a building" is the fact that the area should be listed as a historic district. Across the street is the cut stone sub station with huge "Oregon Water Power & Railway" bronze sign, the restored two story brick "trolley mans clubhouse", Golf Junction (this is the the original line that ran to Oregon City, the worlds first "long distance" electric RR) and surrounding houses and "flop houses" that tie into the shops. The former Portland Traction Railway still runs beside the building and is used about once a day.

Portland has saved a few great tresures. But industrial heritage buildings have been overlooked.
