Of Brazil, the only other country that ordered them. Note different pilot. Unit built to 66-inch gauge. At least one exists on display, but not sure if this is the one.

The other export version of the Alco cab unit, here in Australia. Several countries got these and a few still run. How do the trucks compare with PAs, besides the three brake cylinders? A friend who worked on them at Alco said the World trucks were lighter. Anyone know?

These haven't made it back yet from the museum at Puebla, Puebla. Couldn't we find something suitable to trade for these?

Though the Mexican PA's are in good shape and appear to be well preserved, it defies my imagination as to why the Mexicans would even want them. They would make excellent trade items to get cash from US sources, but honestly, the Mexicans never even ran PA's until some idiot in D&H management decided to let them go. These locomotives would be far better interpreted in the US, and preferably, in Santa Fe "Warbonnet". At the least, they weren't scrapped.
What other rare expatriot US locos remain in Mexican scrap yards? Any H-16-44's? FA's? Trainmasters? C-Liners? I've never been to Valle de Mexico, but I'm told that acres of ancient loco parts are scattered about, without a known inventory.

I think there's a better chance of seeing a Big Boy back in steam before we see those two PA's back in the states. It only took 13 years of negotiations between the Smithsonian Institution and the Mexican government to get the two "incredible hulks" back to USA proper!

The Mexican government wants them because somebody here wants them- nothing more complicated than that.

Well, for what ever reason they have them and they are sitting at Puebla, probabley forever.

We've already have two PA's, that we are very lucky to have with us.

Maybe it would would be more constructive to focous repatrioting efforts on the ex-NP FT that is preserved there. Or how about the unpreserved C628s that are wasting away at the Puebla roundhouse?

I've heard that the Alcophiles at Delaware-Lackawana tried to get the C628s back a couple of years ago. But the Meixcan railroad wanted wwwaaayyyy too for them and there were some problems getting them back up to FRA standards for transport over the border.
