Middletown & Hummelstown 2-6-0 91 steamed up and down the railroad today, as scheduled, and looked and sounded great. From what I could see (and could gather from hearing the M&H crew members' delighted comments), it ran like a Swiss watch. It put on quite a show blasting upgrade over the Swatara Creek Bridge and past Indian Echo Caverns.

Congratulations to Brian Bachman and all who had a hand in bringing back to life this engine, which had not steamed since its first M&H restoration in 1988 (and it ran for only 19 days during that year).

Dan I'd like to second that congratulations to the crew out at M&H. They put on a fine show today and 91 looks beautiful.

This is extraordinarily good news in an otherwise bleak steam season. I add my congratulations to Brian and the gang as well. What they have accomplished over a period of nearly five years is nothing short of a miracle. Well done, all!

As an EX M&H employee one of several reasons I left was there seemed to be no future for steam on a line that cried out for it. My only trip back was to ride behind the 91 the last time it ran. It was great. Congratulations to the whole M&H gang on a job well done.

P.S. In the digital photo of 91 posted by Kevin, is that a certain Rypn interchange poster Steve Zarick alighted from the cab? Sure looks like him!

The photo in the previous post shows a trolley hiding under a tarp. I understand the entire M&H operation is owned by one individual... now that we see progress with the steam, how about the trolleys? What is in store?
