I am doing genealogy on my husband's family. His g-grandfather was living in Amarillo, Tx in 1920 and is listed as a "brkmn" for the "FW&DC Ry". I'm assuming that the "FW" stands for Fort Worth but what is the other part and was this a part of a larger line? Also, while I'm at it, this same ancestor was killed in a train accident while on duty. How do I track down info on that?

If your relative was working for a US railroad in the year 1937 or later, there may be a record at the US Railroad Retirement Board (see link). For accidents between 1911 and 1966, there are ICC accident reports available online. These reports do not list every fatal accident, focusing on those involving train operation (collision, derailment, boiler explosion, etc.). If you know where and when the person died, the local newspaper and especially records of the coroner's inquest may available. Coroners were generally required to investigate and report on the cause of any accidental death in their jurisdiction.
