First of all, I'd like to echo the feelings of other posters and offer my own congratulations to those involved. She not only sounded good, but looks one helluva lot better than in 1988. My question is this - was Saturday her first time on the Swatara Creek bridge? Hopefully, I'll be posting my photo of her Sunday march across it later this week.

I can't aswer your questions, but I have put up the few digital photos on #91 I shot on Saturday. I've thrown in a few shots of #89, making a CN 2-6-0 page. Enjoy!

I encourage all of you to come and visit M&H 91 very soon. She's only scheduled to run weekends in August and one Civil War weekend in late September--that's it. Get down to Middletown, Pa., soon (like this month) if you want to see her run. It's well worth the trip and the M&H always welcomes your patronage!

I was there on Saturday looking at the engine up close and some big burly guy on the engine named Migosh sternly told me to "step back from the locomotive". Not very friendly, I'd say. I'm upset and not going back there. The President will be getting a letter from me with a refund request. Jim

Ray, why no operations in October?? It's only a month with clear skies, cool temps and pretty leaves but... Jim

Ray: I am also a little curious as to why M&H doesn't intend to operate her at least a couple of days in October or early November for "fall foliage." Is she that expensive to run?

Also, I think the contrast in appearance as compared with Strasburg's sister engine #89 is interesting. It is hard to tell by the photos but does # 91's number plate read Canadian National or Midddletown & Hummelston?

Finally, I believe a couple of other Mogul's from this CN class still exist. Anyone have a roster of the survivors, where they are located and their current conditions?

I know that there is one CN 2-6-0 in storage on the Ohio Central. I believe that it is number 86. I do not know what the general condition of the locomotive is.

Number 92 still exists and is at the Wilmington & Western in Wilmington Delaware. It's currently out of service.

Gosh Jim, I'm not sure why 91 is not scheduled to run in October...perhaps someone from the M&H can comment further. You're right--it would seem like a no-brainer!

The CN 2-6-0 owned by the Ohio Central is 96. 86 is also still around--it's on display in a park in London, Ontario.

To answer a few questions, 91 first crossed the bridge over the Swatty on Friday, August 1, 2003, for her test run. Saturday was her first crossing in revenue service.

91's number plate is a brass copy of her original, and it does have Canadian National on it. And for you lurkers who may be "shopping", the bolts are welded ;). Copies are available through the gift shop.

We generally don't mind people milling about the locomotive, and in fact, we all enjoy answering questions and talking with our visitors. However, there are times when we will ask people to step back, particularly when we are going to turn on the injectors. If the injector doesn't catch right, it will violently spew hot water and alot of steam from the overflow, and you don't want to be near the overflow pipe when that happens.

Am I wrong, or do I sense that you know of a surprise and don't want to spill the beans? Is there going to be a CN 2-6-0 convention in Deustch Country?
