Morning! I was curious to know if a railroad museum or a group of museums have come up with a list for railroad objects to supplement the revised and expanded version of Robert G. Chenall's System for Classifying Man-Made Objects.
Thanks!

Since our interest is 19th century cars, have turned to 19th century sources. We use the terminology from the Car Builders Dictionaries, particulary from 1878 and 1882(date may be off, I'm at work and the book is at home), but also later editions, up to and including 1906, along with Voss, and the National Car Builder magazine. You do have to be carful, as the publications don't always agree, even within different editions of the same publication. To solve the differences of opinion, we have started to compile our own edition, using the terms we have agreed to(with notes as to why)
