The ARM parts newsletter recently passed along an email from the Brooklyn Navy Pier looking for parties interested in acquiring PCC cars. I couldn't figure out what cars they had until I did some digging and found out that things aren't going well for Bob Diamond and the Brooklyn Trolley group. I don't recall reading anything on here about that. Did this information slip under the radar, or was it just me? Anyone have the inside story, like Jan K. Lorenzen - doesn't he post here? You can read (at least part) of the sad story on the Brooklyn Historic Railway Association website news page. Trolley Travails jgerlach@trainsofthought.com |

Gee, what a series of setbacks. I can't believe that this has been occuring over the past few months and this is the first I've seen of it. Looks like the City of New York had a sudden and extreme reversal. I wonder if they hacked someone off who is now throwing their beauracratic weight around. I think there have also been problems with the owners of some of the sites that BHRA inhabits. Jan Lorenzen is definitely "in the know" as he is co-founder of a BHRA splinter group also interested in establishing an historic railway in Brooklyn. When I feel the museum where I am a director has problems I then read a story like this and I realize we have no problems compared to this mess. Actually I should probably say cesspool. tcox@parknet.pmh.org |

The Brooklyn trolley group isn't the only transportation preservation group that has had a run in with the NYDOT. The saga of the SS Canadiana is similar. Charles http://www.olm1.com/~wny/buffalo/canadiana.html bg23338@binghamton.edu |

Point of information. New York City DOT and New York State DOT are separate entities. BHRA's battle is with New York City DOT. n2xjk@yahoo.com |
