East Broad Top No. 6, in a very old photo. Locomotive currently lies dismantled in Indiana.

And I might add, has all the asbestos removed avoiding water retention, the wood cab kept indoors under lock and key along with parts that would be easily stolen! Better fate than many steam locomotives have, especially 0-6-0's!

It's older sibling, #3 is still on the
property, stored indoors.

Is EBT 0-6-0 #3 REALLY older than #6? She sure doesn't look older!

Also, the enginehouse at Mt. Union (where #3 resides) was also to be the "home" for the diesel on the new standard gauge Short Line that was to start up operation in the Mt. Union area over EBT right-of-way. Did that start up ever take place?

No, 6 was built in 1907. 3 dates from 1923 (and was the last new steam locomotive acquired by the EBT and the last to operate in regular service).

Lance Myers can better fill in the details, but IIRC the Mount Union Connecting RR hasn't started regular operations yet. Their diesel locomotive (a chunky two-axle Plymouth) is on the property and is being fixed up for use.

Our Plymouth 60-ton CR-4 we delivered to Mt Union in September 2002. The prime-mover is currently undergoing an overhaul. I would guess the engine itself will be operational by the end of the year. The locomotive will likely require rewiring sililar to the EBT's M-7.
