The Nevada Northern Railway Museum is developing a plan to extend our track into the McGill Depot about 1.7 miles. We will be developing a new route into the depot area. Question, what is the sharpest curve a 2-8-0 or SD-9 pulling passengers cars can make? Also what is the steepest grade we could use? We're thinking of a short 3.5% grade that will be on a curve. Any thoughts?

I can send you some copies of the 1912 Baldwin locomotive data book which gives the methods and curves for the calculation needed. I had the formulas typed in to this page when my computer crashed and i lost it all. Just send me an address or else I can just send it to the general office and Lance can do the calculations.
