Just got back from the open house at the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society. Here is a picture of NKP 765 as it appears today.

Tim, thanks for posting that. Can you tell us more, such as are all the paint-highlighted staybolts those that have been replaced or deemed OK? Are the drive wheels there or still at TVRM? Have the tubes and flues been completed? Just overly curious.

I cannot answer the staybolt q., but can tell you that the new flues and tubes have been made, there are new front and rear flue/tube sheets, and a new cab is being made. The tender is also getting extensive work done. Check the 765 site for more info. Jim Tighe, Wapak, OH.

Here's the link for the FWRHS home page. They have a page detailing what has been done on the restoration. About the only news not on the page is that the wheels are done but are being stored down at the TVRM until they are ready to be put back under the engine.

The white paint indicates any work required on those items is completed. Yellow means work still in progress. Red indicates a item to be removed and replaced (mostly studs and a few caps.)

Virtually all of the boiler work, including replacement syphons, tube sheet(s) replacement, various firebox sheet(s) replacement (corners, throat sheet and a complete side sheet), flues and tubes is complete. The superheater units have been rebuilt and are ready for installation after the hydro.

We are probably a couple of work weeks away from a first hydro.

Once 765 is fired up, is there anywhere to run her?
