CB&Q 4-6-4 4000 under steam at Galesburg, Ill., 7/56. Now at LaCrosse, Wisconsin. It once wore a stainless streamlined shroud, to serve as protection for the new Zephyr trains.

ANY photo of "Big Alice" is welcome. My big regret is that I started riding Burlington steam fan trips just after the Q stopped using the Hudsons.

This photo was taken during a Railroad Club of Chicago fantrip which had been set up by Jim Konas and Charley Abel both deceased. This engine was the first steam locomotive I photographed on that very date and is is first 35mm slide in my collection.
