Obituary: Strasburg RR's Warren Benner

I'm sad to report that longtime Strasburg RR V.P. and Treasurer Warren Benner passed away this past Sunday after a long struggle with cancer. Warren was active in the affairs of the railroad until recently and over the years served variously in crew, served on the board and provided the signature to sign the company checks. He was one of the original 24 purchasers of the railroad in 1958. Warren will be missed.

Kurt,

I was sorry to hear this, especially after the recent passing of Ellis Bachmann. This has been a bad year. Many friends have lost loved ones, and my wife and I burried my beloved mother in law in April!!(She was a big Strasburg and RMOFPA fan). And all but one was to cancer. My mother in law had 3 different bouts!!!

Anyway, how many of the original 24 are still around? William Moedinger has also passed away hasn't he?

Only three of the original 24 SRC investors are still with us:
William M. Moedinger, Jr. (age 90)
J. Huber Leath (age 80)
Max Solomon II (though he is no longer affiliated with SRC)

I am glad to hear that William Moedinger is still alive. Is he still able to visit the railroad? I have enjoyed his many versions of The Road To Paradise over the years. Since it had not been updated since 1995, I had assumed he had passed away.
