Post subject: Port Huron Michigan traction trackage removed *PIC*
PostPosted: Tue Sep 09, 2003 4:57 pm

Just an FYI to let those of you in the area know that the last of the Water Street/ Lapeer Street Port Huron City Electric trolley line, including the spring switch near the former custom's alley, is being removed this week. If you want pictures (or a chunk of track) get it now. It is in deplorable condition (20 pound rail here) and unfortunately the act of removing it from brick and three layers of asphalt destroys any chance of large usable sections surviving earth movers unearthing them.

That leaves the double-track mainline down Military Street and the Griswold line as the last sections of traction trackage within the city limits of Port Huron. Below is an early view of Port Huron & Gratiot (a forerunner line) trolley at the corner of Military and Water Street, circa 1872.
