At long last, I'm pleased to report more progress on #10's
heavy repairs.

We finally finished milling the driving boxes this past weekend.
The boxes will be taken off the milling machine and will have
brasses pressed into them. Brasses are being machined off-site
and should be ready soon.

There's a new yoke bar which was done with a water jet. The
yoke, for those that don't know, holds up the other end of the
slide gear, piston rods and the driving rods. The old yoke
was the original one on the engine, had been altered when
the engine was regauged, and it was showing wear.

After giving up on having the new drive rods water jetted
(because of the expense), our mechanic came up with the idea
of turning the rods on the lathe to remove enough metal so
they won't take much time to mill. We put the first rod on
our big lathe this past weekend and started turning it.
We got one end turned down to proper height. While it may sound
odd to put square stock in a lathe, the lathe can take off more
material (once we get below the corners) than the mill can.

I think we'd all be interested in some detailed photos of these activities. Sounds like some new ideas here.
