Anyone restoring a Jordan spreader? We just rolled what are probably the original friction bearing trucks (5 1/2 x 10), dated 1928 from under a spreader which is slowly being rebuilt, including roller bearing trucks, in South Dakota. The trucks may have historic interest as the sideframes have the name O. F. Jordan Co. cast on. Ours is the one shown both before and after being rebuilt by Jackson Jordan in the article on spreaders in the June, 1969 Trains magazine. It is s/n 718, shipped from Ludington, MI 11/12/28, rebuilt in 1960. Alex Huff Dakota Southern Rwy dsrc512@sd.value.net |
