No visible damage noted at B&O Museum (other than continuing repairs to last Feb.'s collapse, of course) this morning. plenty of loose branches, garbage cans, etc. in the neighborhood.

Baltimore Streetcar Museum not affected yet; rainfall totals up the Jones Falls Valley seem small enough that flood danger seems to have passed.

Did not see Ellicott City for myself, but reports are that the anticipated flooding of the Patapsco River did not occur, so all seems well there.

Coastal flooding is still occurring on the Bay (Fells Point, Baltimore is under water), so keep fingers crossed for the Chesapeake Beach RR Museum.

An estimated 55% of central Md. electric customers are without power as I type. I'm one of the lucky ones.

Any word from Virginia and Pennsylvania?

All tents at the Strasburg railroad's Thomas event are blown down this morning from high winds overnight, a smokejack on the roof of the enginehouse is gone and thomas operations for Friday have been cancelled.

Anyone know if the EBT's Rockhill Furnace Shops survived the bad weather overnight?

Might not have taken the brunt of the hurricane here in Port Huron, but got to see some nice side affects. Had a bit of a scare here, though, I guess. Seems with all the reconstruction and repair we've been doing on our HVAC system over the past year, our roof got quite cover with bits of insulation, metal, etc. Got here at 9 Am this morning to see the overflow spouts trickling, which seem a bit odd.

I should say that our main facility was built as a Carnegie Library in 1904, so will be 100 years old this year. Needless to say, roof access is pre-OSHA, and involves climbing a wooden ladder through a closet off our second floor.

Well, scampered up there to see our roof over our Mezzanine area covered with water roughly up to my knees! Both down drains were plugged solid from the force of the rain overnight and today (still going pretty strong actually). In a roof space roughly 20 X 30, thats a decent amount of water. Trudged through immediately to get one side unplugged, which took about ten minutes. As would be expected by anyone who knows these things (read into this NOT ME), the force of freeing that one side knocked me on my keester, This same force was also strong enough that it shook the pipe it was going through with a vibration that I was told later would be heard in our basement studio area!

Long and the short, if you havea flat-roofed, 100 year old building, routinely check the gutters and cleanouts, especially after torential downpours.Hate to think what would have happened if our roof went kaplooey (kaplooey being a techincal term)

National Capital Trolley Museum buildings are fine. No serious flooding occurred.

Reports this afternoon say that everything is OK at the shops. No word on the rest of the line yet. We've all been biting our nails over this one.

Drove past the Chesapeake Beach Museum yesterday and from a short distance, (lot at the adjoining restaurant was roped off so no parking was available and the lot had been flooded and had quite a bit of sand in it), the building appears intact and the halfa coach also appeared in good shape. Can't comment on the interior of either at this time though.
