I had been seeing reports that the Thomas The Tank Engine rage was winding down. But now I see in todays flimsies a Denver Post article that the Colorado Railroad Museum took in $300,000 in last years event. And they have another set for Oct 10. So that is where the money came from to send the D&RGW 346 back to Strasburg, PA for boiler repairs. Way to go guys! I hope you do as well this year; maybe the 318 will be closer to that new boiler, she has needed for quite a few years! Ted Miles ted_miles@nps.gov |

Good for CRM. But all you spectators, do not be fooled by any reports leaking out of what a Thomas event "takes in". There are an awful lot of expenses for items to accomodate a large crowd for a few days, and a lot of people already have their hands in your pockets, waiting for their cut or percentage. On the whole, it usually results in a positive outcome but a LOT of volunteer work before and during an event, and bills to be settled to get to that bottom line. Bob Kutella 68trolley@comcast.net |
