Identity of Passenger Cars @ Hocking Valley Scenic *PIC*

Greetings,

This photo was recently posted to railpictures.net and is noted as being taken on September 14, 2003. Does anybody have specific information about the passenger cars pictured (configurations, numbers, original railroad owners as well as subsequent owners, etc.) I am particularly interested in the two heavyweight (coaches?) on the rear -- which I believe may be either from a NYC subsidiary or from the NYNH&H.

If you do not have the information, but know somebody who does, then please feel free to post that too.

Let's see....

That looks like a GE 45 tonner leading an un rebuilt RS4-TC ex-Army or Air Force Baldwin switcher. The rebuilt ones omitted the radiators on the sides of the hood. I would guess that the first two cars are lightweight Pullman Standard C&O coaches, and the last two cars are the Erie heavyweight communter cars.

Oooooh, if you must show diseasles then those are what I'd pick! A nifty little 45-tonner and an RS4TC. Since MU was unknown on 45-tonners they must be running with engineers in both. Great pic.

I almost hope that's a photo of their excursion train and not some unrestored cars they're moving around. If it is, it'll make me feel better about the cosmetic appearance of our excursion train.

Thank you Dennis and others for the quick and informative responses. I would like to hear more about the restoration of the former Erie coaches. Were these cars ever used in Ohio, or were they primarily confined to local service in New York and New Jersey?
