As you all know, I have been collecting photographs of steam pumps in the Photo Section of the "Steam Lizards" group on Yahoo. Recently, we found ourselves running out of space.

It was then that Paul Evans of "Internal Fire", the Museum of Power, Tanygroes, Ceredigion, Wales, UK offered the group a Photo Gallery in which to store our photo collection.

I have finished setting up the Surviving World Steam Lizards Gallery at:

http://www.survivingworldsteam.com/gallery/

and have found it to be a tremendous improvement over the Photo Section of our Yahoo Group. It does NOT require a login to view it, and has no banner ads, pop-ups, or spywear. In addition, notice the Search field in the upper right corner of the webpage; you can use this to search the entire photo gallery. Some example searches you might want to try are:

* steam locomotive
* Heber Valley RR
* Railway
* Long Leaf
* Any builder (such as "Dean Bros.")
* Size (such as "3 x 2 x 3")

Notice that it also has a slideshow feature that is even nicer than the one on Yahoo. You can also add an unlimited number and length of comments to each picture. (Yahoo only lets you enter one caption of limited length.)

I have also set up a folder for uploading new images to the Gallery. Anyone can do so (at least at this time, hopefully others won't abuse it), and once they are uploaded, I can announce them to the Steam Lizards Group. They will stay in this folder for about a month, then I will move them to their respective albums.

Some rail-related steam pumps I would like to see added in the future are:

* The two steam pumps in boiler house at the EBT
* The steam pumps found on the grounds of the Sumpter Valley Rlwy
* Steam pumps in the collection of the LaPorte County Historic Steamm Society
* Any other steam pumps mounted on locomotive (or in ships)

Finally, notice that this gallery is part of my new "Surviving World Steam" Project website at http://www.survivingworldsteam.com.
