| Post subject: | Major steam for Southern Ontario *PIC* |
We've never had it so good in the last year, first we had CP 4-6-4 2816 pay us a visit, and now a whole bunch of steam excursions announced by the Southern Ontario Locomotive Restoration Society (otherwise known as the operating St. Thomas crew) Excursions are as follows Friday September 26 London to Stratford to St Mary Saturday Sept 27th Stratford to Goderich (sold out) Sunday Sept 28th Stratford to St. Marys September 29th to OCtober 3rd runs 3:00,4:00,5:00,maybe 6 pm if required 40 minute trips out of Stratford Via Station October 4th Stratford to Guelph over GEXR rails (former CN mainline) Sunday October 5th, 3 round trips between Hespeler and Guelph (some sold out already) Monday October 6th Guelph to Kitchener one way with bus return October 9th through 18th, hourly trips from Waterloo North, coinciding with Oktoberfest Folks no trip is more than $60.00, and most are under $20.00. The motive power is honest to goodness coal burning steam power (and if the equipment is the same as the last time I rode in August, open window and partially open sided 1923 ex CPR coach, with ex via coach with comfy high back seats and lunch counter. I don't believe Guelph and area have seen a steam engine since 1977, and wouldn't it be nice to see two side by side in Guelph with 4-8-4 6167 on display next to the tracks? Please patronize these trips, there is a number of engines and equipment at St Thomas which might have a future running excursions if these trips are a success.
