| Post subject: | EBT Restoration |
The FEBT's last work session before the Fall Spectacular was a busy one. I spent Friday and Saturday of this weekend in Mt. Union working on digging out the passing siding on the Mt. Union Connecting Railroad. Several crews were on hand at the EBT on Sunday. Windows, track three, the electrical shop and other projects were underway. At the end of the day, the electrical shop was nearly finished. Some paint still needs applied and touched up though. The building looks great! Track three is completely passable, however a later work session will be spent leveling the rails. M-7 was run over the rehabilitated track. Replacement of the roundhouse roof is nearing completion. Only about 2 weeks to go until it's done. Stalls 1 to 3 still are left to complete. Also, it shouldn't be long until #14 is using her proper tender. I'm not going to guess how long though. A new end sill was installed this week. Repairs to the journal boxes on the front truck are almost complete, then the archbar trucks will be reassembled. I'd like to give a big hats off to the paid EBT employees. They've replaced more ties this season than AT LEAST the last three combined. M- 7 sure is a usefull locomotive. This upcoming weekend: PRR E8's are in town for Altoona Railfest 2003. That's where I'll be. I will have pictures online sometime this week. RailfanUSA.com altoona_east@railfanusa.com |
