Parade float built by Rock Island shop forces at the Roswell roundhouse in Colorado Springs, around the turn of the century. During the '40s and '50s the VFW post #999 located at the New York Central collinwood yards built a replica of the NYC 999 locomotive to use in parades. It was powered by an automobile engine and could be driven on the streets. Sorry, I don't have a photo, but perhaps someone else does and could post a link or source. jim1522@aol.com |
