Pat: I can report to you and the readers that the EBT Fall Event was a success this year. Crowds were up both days, with the passenger train operating all trips at all but capacity. The Picnic train operated as well, however not at capacity. The comments from the folks that I spoke to on the trains were all positive and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

The Friends of the East Broad Top were present as well with their information booth. They also provided help with the roundhouse tours and the (for the first time)car shop tours. This area of the shop complex has not been open to the public for years, and with the efforts of FEBT, they not only cleaned up the shop but erected interesting displays concerning the car shops and the recent restoration of that part of the main shop complex. Highlights also included the progress of the rebuilding of the brick boiler house, and the cosmetic restoration of the Electrician's Building. FEBT also showed their 2 coaches that they purchased in Colorado the other year as well.

The EBT also was running several of their antique motor cars for the public to ride, providing an activity between train rides.

In conclusion, I feel this has been one of the best Fall Event's to be held at the EBT and I am sure attendance was at an all time high. We will conclude the 2003 season by operating weekends through the end of October.

Plus, the weather was near perfect and the M-1 was running. 17 was out of the roundhouse and posed at the head of a coal drag and the highway bus was on display. We heard late Saturday afternoon that 1100 rides had been sold.
