Actually named the Lion, star of the 1950s comedy that closely predicted the UK preservation effort that would follow. This looks like an old photo, but was taken in 1981. Is this loco still considered operable?

As I understand it, only to the same extent as the Smithsonian's "John Bull" is--it's conceivable that you could fire it up after a cursory inspection, minor adjustments, etc., but your bigger problem will be holding the loco's guardians at gunpoint to make them do so.
