| Post subject: | Pullman fern pattern carpet |
Has anyone found sources for art deco style carpet for Pullman cars & lounge cars? Ideally we'd like to find the green-background and maroon-background fern pattern commonly used in Pullmans (Southern Pacific also used this in their lounge cars), or at least something similiar, suitable for a 1940 interior. We've had good luck with the patterned carpets from Durkan (www.durkan.com). They have fern patterns in their Art Deco collection as well as other very close approximations of railroad carpet in their Archives collection. We used the maroon/green fern pattern in our GM&O "Abraham Lincoln" tail car. It looks great and has worn very well. It's not the cheapest stuff in the world but the best we've been able to find, and I know of several private car owners who have been happy with it as well.
