Shown here at Streator, Illinois in 1946. This one is now on display as "Fort Worth & Denver 401" at Lubbock, Texas. It and four others were revived off the Galesburg deadline in the fall of 1958 when the Colorado & Southern had two fatal collisions, in Colrado and Wyoming. They leased the five 01as to supplement the destroyed diesels and ran them into early 1959, between Denver and Fort Collins. Two survived, the 4978 (now at Mendota, IL) and the 4994, which stayed at the 7th Street roundhouse in Denver until donated to Texas Tech in 1964. The 4994 reportedly gave up some grates to the 4960 when that engine's were burned in excursion service.
