Can anyone suggest a source for railway passenger statistics? IÂ’m specifically interested in the Nevada short lines and the number of passengers the carried each year. Thanks, Keith Albrandt Nevada Northern & Railroads of White Pine County kalbrandt@rypn.org |

Keith, check state archives or state library in carson city to see if Nevada had a railroad commission at one point. Most states did at some point to control railroads, or at least monitor their activities, as did North Carolina, Kansas and other states. These reports. Most of them from the late 1800s and early 1900s are a gold mine of information. Jim http://nctrans.org Wrinnbo@aol.com |

I've seen some office copies of these reports that instruct the clerk to use the ICC information when completing the State information. The State of Nevada has a website for the State Archieves. Some information on holdings is on-line and an email inquiry should bring a prompt response. Just this last week I inquired of the State Library (ground floor in same building) and had a response back within 24 hours. You might also check the on-line indexing of the California State RR Museum Library. CSRM got some Nevada information. Brian Norden |
