As a native of Long Island and a one time commuter on the Long Island Railroad, I thought to that a comment on the Railroad Stations of Long Island

I like the book which is compiled by David D. Morrison and Valerie Palaluk, both of them active preservations.

I collect railroad post cards and some of the ones I saw made my mouth water.

The station I used to visit in my home town, was torn down when I was 11, but I still remember the pot belly stove with the stack running all the way across the waiting room ceiling and the brass fronts on the ticket windows.

My Oyster Bay branch had some great stations and Oyster Bay station itself is soon to become the home of the Oyster Bay Railroad Museum and LIRR 35. Recently moved there in pieces.

The book is part of a serier called Images of Rail by Arcadia Press, you can't go wrong for $ 20.00.

I hope they do some mare narrow gauge and short Lines.
