Post subject: CP Royal Hudson Being Moved
PostPosted: Mon Aug 23, 1999 3:12 pm

I went to Keystone Cement in Bath, PA. today. I found a flurry of activity at the site. There were two conrail flat cars, two 100 ton cranes, lots of people, and the partial owners of the engine, Bob Spanagle and his wife. The engine and tender were being lifted onto the flat cars. I talked to one of the crane operators who I went to high school with, and, he told me the engine was going to California, a car museum. With engine on the flat car, it will be around 20 ft. high. How will that fit under over-passes along the NS corridor? How will it fit under power lines along the cement secondary. Anyway, it will probably move on Wednesday, that is when Conrail moves slow freight on the secondary.
If this is the destination, then it will be a static piece. The owner, J.B. Nethercutt, has very deep pockets and a first class automobile museum. The museum, by the way, is called San Sylmar.
