Post subject: Amtrak E60CP/CH to be preserved?
PostPosted: Fri Oct 31, 2003 10:51 pm

Report on Trainorders.com indicates that the end has come for Amtrak's last E60CP/CH's, and that one (603, originally 964) has been set aside for preservation by the RR Museum of Pennsylvania. In addition, It's reported that Amtrak 958 is held for preservation by its later owner, NJ Transit. Anyone care to confirm?

NJ TRANSIT 958 is indeed preserved. It is currently in Morristown, NJ being saved for the NJ Transportation Museum (whenever that might come about)

Had a chance to climb into one of these beasts while it was still on the erecting floor in Erie, PA. Wow, does this make me feel old....Gee, thanks!

Sorta like a GG1, you never saw such a big engine with such an itty-bitty cab. Really cramped, much more so than in any standard diesel. Some steam engines were a whole lot less cramped, too.
