Dining Car Stove on EBay.

Coal or wood burning Dining Car Stove on EBay. Maybe he's a bit optimistic on the starting price, but would be a good start on a restoration of a gutted heavyweight diner. Identical to the stove we have on our diner- the ex-DRGW "Castle Peak".

It would be great to have in the restoration of our ex-SP 10040 diner on the Niles Canyon Railway. It is a 1926 Pullman heavyweight that is missing the stove. But at $10,000.00 it looks like we'll be keeping the modern stove that is in it now.
If anyone has a lead on a more affordable one, give us a call.

Of course it depends on whether you are trying to create a museum piece or a working dining car. A stove like the one on ebay would not meet current health code requirements.

Not to mention that that same $10,000 could get you ex-GTR #789 (later GTW #8526), a 1914 Osgood-Bradley built car that is now at the Reading Technical and Historical Society. They are supposedly looking to sell it for non-museum use, as a visitors center for some small town in PA, who probably doesn't care that much of her interior is original. I'm trying to find a home for it in Michigan, but time is now short and there don't seem to be takers, including my own facility.

Can you post a picture of that NKP car? I know I have heard you talk about it, but I don't think I have ever seen a photo of it. Is she really the last Nickel Plate wooden coach? I gotta think someone along the old NKP would take her. Then again....

Boyd, thanks for posting that shot.
TJ ...'twould be a labor of love and a beautiful museum piece if done ...yes it is the last one, and you know what! she rides better then the NKP steel day coaches still around. Funny but the outfit just west of us voted about 51 to 49 not to give her a home. You did it to your car, no reason it can't be done to this one!

Dammit, can someone make a case that this coach ran in Pennsylvania, so I can twist some arms at the Friends of the Railroad Museum of Pa.?

The NKP did go thru that little bit-o-pennsy that hits Lake Erie:
418.8 Thornton Jct PA
421.6 Girard PA
422.3 Wallace Jct
425.6 Fairview
436.8 Erie
450.5 North East PA
And according to an old timetable is would appear that NKP ran train #7 from NYC to Scranton ???
So who's to say it didn't!
