Post subject:  Rock Island No. 9

Rock island's ceremonial 4-6-0 at Herington, Kansas, sometime in the 1950s. This is former Warren & Ouachita Valley No. 1, now in Wisconsin.

A person who was instrumental in having this ten wheeler saved in the 1960s recently noted that the Rock Island planned to scrap it and its companion passenger car before it moved to Mid Continent in 1966!!!

Warren&Ouchita R.R.#1 was sold to a new ower in 1979 and was moved to the Kettle Morraine Ry.shop in North Lake Wis.where it sat in storage up until last year.The locomotive was trucked by flat bed to Black River Falls Wis.and then put on display.
