The Heber Valley Railroad is in a position to send copies of all manuals used by HVRR for a small fee covering shipping/printing. Sumpter Valley Ry uses both rule books and employee timetables. our rulebooks and operating practices are reviewed regularly by our operating committee and updated as needed .

Railroad Museum of New England's Naugatuck Railroad uses the NORAC rulebook, and an employee timetable based on the old Conrail pattern. Our timetable is reisued (updated) about every two-three years, with Bulletin Orders issued as needed (usualy monthly). The NORAC rules and emp tt pages go in the same binder, along with airbrake and safety rules.

NORAC-- Northeastern Operating Rules Advisory Committee. Steamtown is also a NORAC associate member, as are some other excursion operations.

Western Maryland Scenic Railroad uses Operating Rules and a Timetable, as well as Safety Rules and Restrictive Equipment Rules. Each of the four books were written to specifically deal with situations encountered on this railroad.

St. Louis Steam Train Association had both, was recognized by the FRA as a "railroad", we engineers were federally certified, attended paid schools and the engine crews regularly took rules exams. We held extensive safety meetings prior to all runs and took pride in the fact that we never had any injuries or rules infractions while on the main line trips.

I forgot to add that we had an extensive engine service manual and the service crews were very efficient, like a SWAT team, when we arrived at a service stop.
After our first couple of trips on the BNSF, the greatest compliment we received was to be treated like one of their train movements and crews.

Mid Continent railway uses the Consolidated code of operating rules, 1980 edition along with an employee time table. All operating personel are required to do a minimum number of trips over our line in a year. We also have a rules exam every two years.
