First run over relocated track on the Conway Scenic.

Saw a picture of this in Railpace after the relocation.

Are there any plans for this current stretch of track? Last I heard via Raiplace it was inactive.

Today was the first day we've run a train over this rebuilt 3/4 mile portion of the ex-MEC Mountain Division.Everything went great and the track was nice and smooth!
Future plans are to operate a "shoppers train" about a mile further east to the OVP (Outlet Village Plus).
CSRR might not ever go further east (towards Portland,ME) because of a bridge on the state line that has a collapsing abutment.We've been told it could be a "million dollar project"

When I first saw the picture, I was baffled as to the location. I assume now that it is somewhere east of Intervale ,not on the portion of the line up to Bartlett. As I remember the track, there is no way for trains from the present North Conway station to access the eastbound MEC from Intervale without reversing direction. How is the shopper train going to handle that? Also, is this a state or federally funded project or is it an investment or Conway Scenic Management?

I suspect that the photo is taken somewhere near "Redstone" on the ex-MEC line. While a direction reversal would be required to get to the well-known ex-B&M North Conway station, they might not go there at all (I'm only speculating). In that part of North Conway, the ex-MEC line is less than a quarter mile east of the main street. It runs in back of the shops on the east side of the main street in the same fashion as the ex-B&M line runs on the west side. It does get a bit further away the farther south you go, however.

As for funding, I have no idea and pass the baton to other posters ;-)

The funding was covered by NH DOT and federal funds also. The track was relocated about 20ft. to the north of its original position to make way for the new North-South road which allows us locals to bypass the "strip" and the traffic.Sure has made our lives a lot better.
