Wasn't that the > figure they used to use for a 4-lane > interstate? ..... that seems to be what I recall to be the "standard" figure for a railroad line's construction costs per mile of track, based on projects like the Powder River Basin and the DM&E's proposed line. Thats pretty close to the last estimate we had for replacing 100% of the ties, rehab the base, ballast, line and level. Throw in a coupla crossings, fix a coupla bridges(nothing major).
