Not sure about the ex-Sumpter Valley locos, but the rest of the article is correct. The two locomotives at Poroy are confirmed scrapped.

On a somewhat related note, the standard guage Huacarpay-Cusco helper still rests in its shed at Saylla, midway between Cusco and the Vilcanota River. I was tempted to climb the fence to find out its lineage, but never took the opportunity.

For a classic narrow gauge right-of-way with vistas, it is difficult to beat the Cusco-Aguas Calientes route. I was able to ride it a number of times down to the railhead at the hydroelectric plant below Machu Picchu. Further downstream, narrow guage boxcars dot the river bed near Santa Teresa from the devastating flood of 1998 that cut the line to La Convencion.
