This looks similar to it's condition the last time I saw it about a year ago. Will probably be there over the holidays and take another look at it.

Thata a burly looking engine. I like it. Looks like shes probably too heavy for any shortlines, though, and too small for mainline excursions (should they every happen again in this country.)

The 1518 weighed 525000 lbs ready for work. With
her 225 LbBP she developed 75005 Lbs Tractive Effort.How many cars were you planning on having in that Excursion Train?

Not that I'm unhappy to have the 1518 still "with us", I just wish the IC had saved one of the 2800 series 2-10-2's (as well as 4-8-2 2613). The 2807 was still in the Paducah roundhouse in 1960 or later. While the 2-8-2's were used in the area, the 2-10-2's were the backbone of Kentucky Division coal and freight service. They had a tractive effort of 108,000 lbs. Really great drag engines! As for the 1518, when I last looked at in the early 1990's, it was complete and at night the headlight, class lights and cab lights were all lit. It was really a great display!

The 1518, several 2-10-2's, 4-8-2's and others are in our video "MidAmerican Glory-ICRR". It's now on DVD-R as well as VHS.
