Photo of ex-Northern Pacific 4-4-0 684 being towed down to the interchange by Nezperce RR 2-6-2 No. 9. Both would survive, the 684 in North Dakota and the 9 in Wisconsin. There are a great many Northern Pacific photos by NP employee Ron Nixon on this website. http://museumoftherockies.org/photoarc/nixon/nixon-loco/npl-12.html ryarger@rypn.org |

Nezperce R.R. #9 Is currently stored at the shops of Mid-West Locomotive & Machine Works, Inc. Awaiting some boiler and running gear work. It was built for the McCloud River Railroad in 1901 by Baldwin. It also served time on the Amador Central and the Yerka Western. greenchili@tds.net |

Did the NP ever operate the 684 after reacquiring it, or just tow it around for events? ryarger@rypn.org |

No. 684 was never retubed nor were the eccentric blades ever returned. Parkwater roundhouse workers (only a few left then) ca. 1968 said that the blades were long lost. Anyone know how it got to its present very odd location? |
