Post subject: And to the MTM/ Mt. Clemens Crowd *PIC*
PostPosted: Fri Nov 28, 2003 2:30 pm

...I apologize for the Times Herald screw up of the article in the 11/26/03 flimsie on the New Haven Depot Restoration. I didn't see it until today (I was off Wednesday and Thursday), and now you understand why I have just about quit giving any "new reporters" info, because they never get it right, and unfortunately this gentleman missed the boat as well.

Although it was a great piece on the restoration of the New Haven, Michigan, depot, they left out the fact Mt. Clemens was saved (the first to be saved on site, Smiths Creek having been moved by Henry Ford to Greenfield Villages in 1929), and somehow put in Fraser, which I told them was torn down (along with Richmond, sadly) in the late 1980's. There was no intent of leaving the Michigan Transity Museum out, in fact just the opposite. For whatever reason he ignored me, and left out the fact Richmond needed to be torn down too.

Long and the short, I have asked the Times Herald to correct this today, and hopefully the correction will be in the paper by Monday (I doubt over the weekend, but I'm trying). The last thing we want to do is slight you guys, as you are a big part of the reason why were able to fight to save our station. Dave Sutter, if you read this, can you pass that along to the guys in the work session this weekend?

Thanks and sorry,

TJ

I read the Article from the Times Herald as well as the apology from you T.J. I appreciate you looking out for the Michigan Transit Museum. I forwarded both the article and your apology to a few members of our Museum. Hopefully the easily excited ones will not over-react, their energy is needed in more positive ways.

Thanks, Dave-

Try and get a copy of today's Times Herald. I was able to get the correction into the "corrections" section listed at the bottom left of Page 1B, its all too-small, but it is there.
