Equipment leased from municipal owners?

Can anyone give some information concerning equipment such as locomotives(steam or diesel),cars, or other rolling equipment that is owned by a state,city or town and leased to a group for operation or display?
Locomotives at the Minnisota Transportation Museum come to mind, but what kind of terms were negotiated for the lease(s)? What others are out there?

I think the Daylight 4449 is owned by Portland.

We lease ex-CN #2141 from the City of Kamloops in British Columbia, Canada. The City allowed us to take her out of the park and restore her. Majority of funding came from the City, and they continue to provide an operating grant that basically covers insurance for operating.

Here in Fort Collins, streetcar #21 is owned by the City of Fort Collins. For restoring the streetcar, the Fort Collins Municipal Railway Society earned the right to operate it indefinatly.

Heber Valley Historic Railroad Authority is an independent "quasi" state agency. We are not part of the State Department of Parks and Recreation nor the State Department of Transportation (UDOT). However, our ROW does belong to UDOT and it is my understanding that UP618 is listed in the equipment inventory of UDOT. At a recent meeting held HVRR director and managers, this fact even surprised a number of UDOT "higher-ups" who were unaware that they had a major piece of "equipment" that was still operating at the age of 96 years.

Craig Lacey may have to correct me, but I believe we lease the ROW/equipment for the nominal $1.00 per year.

He corrected me!

The ROW from Heber to the Dam "belongs" to the State Department of Parks and Recreation. From the Dam to Vivian Park belongs to UDOT.

Equipment on the UDOT inventory is UP618, UP1011, and a little Davenport.
