Just got notice from the PMHS website of RYPN contributor Fritz Milhaupt that Pere Marquette caboose A804 is being offered "free to a good home." For details, go to link below and scroll down to the second posting under the "News" section. This was one of the rarer of the PM's cabeese, not sure how many survive, but believe only two others, A800 in Hillard, Ohio, and A811 in Navare, Ohio. Being that it is in Ontario, not sure how hard it would be to repatriate, or I might try to get for my own back yard!

News Update-

Just contacted Mr. Brian Sanford with the Kingsville Heritage Park, and he told me fellow PMHS members have helped the new museum in the ex-PM Wallaceburg, Ontario depot arrange to acquire A804 for display there. Good going guys!

The Halton County Radial Railway near Rockwood Ontario also has an ex wooden Pere Marquette Caboose that was subsequently owned by the London and Port Stanley railway. It also needs a good home, as it has been stored outside for years, and is in need of stabilization and restoration. I'm sure if you asked nicely, you could have that one too for the cost of moving it. Because the HCRR operates on overhead trolley wire, it is doubtful that the caboose would ever be operated in its current location.

Post subject:  Ex-PM/ LP&S caboose *PIC*

I thought all ex-PM/ LP&S cabeese had their couplas removed for just this reason. I believe that C-1, now at the Port Stanley Terminal Railway, had its removed and a catwalk of sorts put on it for use in repairing the LP&S catenary. Didn't know about the one at Halton County though.
