From now through January 25, 2004, the exhibit “Made in America: The American Industrial Landscape – Reconstructed” will be open to the public at the Payne Gallery at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA. The exhibit shows the art of Janos Enyedi, whose work deals with industry. Many of the items on display are modified digital prints and or miniatures. Industrial operations from Augusta, Georgia to Coshocton, Ohio are depected, with Bethlehem Steel’s Bethlehem plant getting the most attention.

The exhibit is open 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. Admission is free and a free parking pass is available at the desk in the gallery. The artwork is on display at the Payne Gallery in the Priscilla Payne Hurd Campus of Moravian College, located at West Church and Main Streets in Bethlehem, PA. The gallery can be contacted at (610) 861-1680.

The exhibit was organized by the National Museum of Industrial History in Bethlehem, PA, in conjunction with the Payne Gallery at Moravian College. The exhibition is presented through a generous contribution from Altria Group, Inc, with additional support from the AFL-CIO and private contributions.

The exhibit opened on Thurday, December 4th with remarks from the artist, Janos Enyedi, and from Stephen Donches, President of the National Museum of Industrial History. Donches reminded the audience that the Bethlehem Steel site is still at risk, but the museum is nonetheless committed to going forward. This exhibit marks a major public presence by the museum which will only become greater as fund raising campaigns gain steam in the coming months. Opening of the first stage of the museum, Exposition Hall, is expected late next year.

Thanks for posting that information. I read about it in the Morning Call newspaper, but didn't put much thought into it. I'll have to make the short trip up to Bethlehem and see it before it's over.
