The Nevada Northern Railway offers a locomotive rental program that letÂ’s you take our 2-8-0 locomotive 93 out on our main line as the engineer. On the route to the mines you cross three grade crossing and go through two tunnels. If you ever wonder why the SP invested in cab forwards, the trip through the tunnel will give you first hand experience. Or if diesels are more to your liking, we also have an ex-SP SD-9 with dynamic brakes available for rent or your choice of either a RS-2 or RS-3.
Better yet, the money from your rental will go to restore our 4-6-0 locomotive 40. So you can treat yourself and put another steamer into operation, what more could you ask for?
