Post subject:  don't ya just hafta smile???

this is a direct copy of the description of an eBay item

"HERE IS AN EXTREMELY RARE ANTIQUE ITEM. I believe it is from the 18th century. It is a Choo-Choo Horn. The plaque on it says "CHOO-CHOO" HORN, PACIFIC COAST PRODUCTS CO. LTD., HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA, PATENT PENDING. It measures 9" tall and 4" wide (not including the width of the mounting piece. It mounts onto something like the wall I guess and is also hangable. When you push in on it, it makes a whistling sound. It is made of wood & has cloth type material on it. The mounting pieces are metal. The wood has alot of wear on the front of it where the color is wearing off and two splits, the back has some scratches. The mounting pieces have a little rusting with age wearing. The cloth has age wearing and stained on one side, also has a few slits in it. This item could be restored to look awesome. Wish I had more information about it, but I've never seen anything like it in my life. Shipping will be determined at the end of auction. Payment due within 7 days by paypal, check or money order. Thanks."

--the seller has since pulled the item and it is no longer for sale....(18th century? choo-choo? Hollywood?? California?? -- wasn't what is now California part of Mexico in the 18th century, didn't Hollywood get it's name from a real estate devolopment in the early 20th century? how was there a pat. pending if the patent office didn't yet exist--let alone a nation?)
