In the flimsies article linked below, anyone know what type of railcar this might be?

I would guess a boxcar. It would have been cheap and the length, for the most part, is too short for the majority of passenger equipment. Should have buried a cupola style caboose and left the cupola sticking out of the ground for use as a gun turret when the "Red Plague" overran Stickney township. Bring back the '50's! Duck and cover!

Sounds like a longer boxcar to me. Incidently, my father-in-law used to work in a marble quarry that had been declared an emergency fallout shelter in the 1960s. When the quarry was closed, he brought home a few of the govermnent survival supplies, including some of those crackers, sealed in a 5 gallon square can. We opened them and they still tasted fresh, despite being 20 years old, but they went stale very quickly afterward.

It probably is just a boxcar, but I was curious because some passenger cars, like the one pictured below, were only 60-65 feet in length.

Where my dad works they found a bunch of old goverment staples in case of a nuclear holucost. The 55 gallon barrels of water aren't that great, but the tins of vintage hard candy are. It's amazing they're half a century old since they aren't stuck together or anything. Good stuff.
